The MDRU-UBC short course comprises four modules, with each containing a theoretical introduction followed by lab practicals using petrographic microscopes. The course will start with the hands-on application of the new kimberlite classification and then discuss several volcanic processes recently identified in kimberlites (welding, lapilli formation,crustal contamination). Petrographic evidence for these processes will be demonstrated in kimberlites and non-kimberlitic volcanics. More information on the course can be found at
