AME Open Letter to Premier Eby: Urgent Action Needed on Declaration on the of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRlPA) and Interpretation Act

Vancouver, BC, – May 6, 2026 – In response to the Government of British Columbia’s failure to bring forward amendments to DRIPA and the Interpretation Act in the Spring 2026 Legislative Session, the Association for Mineral Exploration (AME) has sent an open letter to Premier Eby.

The letter expresses concerns that the government’s inaction and ever-changing position creates litigation risks to the foundational laws affecting all industries in the province. It highlights that recent court decisions and existing provisions have caused confusion, regulatory delays, and an expanding backlog of permits.

The letter also reiterates AME’s proposed amendments to provide a clear pathway to resolving justiciability concerns.
