Vancouver, B.C. – July 9, 2025 – The Province of British Columbia has released details about the Phase 3 of the Heritage Conservation Act (HCA) Transformation Project, which began in 2022.

The government will conduct an engagement process through summer 2025 on policy recommendations developed through the first two rounds of engagement. AME has requested that the government clearly articulate how industry feedback has been considered in these recommendations. Industry needs solutions that reduce costs and permit delays while supporting a strong mineral exploration sector.

  • An online survey in writing;
  • Engagement sessions; or
  • One-on-one meetings with the ministry

Recognizing that many mineral explorers most affected by the HCA changes are currently in the field during the consultation period, AME has urged government to move forward only with policies that do not impact the mineral exploration industry currently, and to allow additional time for meaningful engagement on those policy issues that do impact mineral exploration. To conduct meaningful engagement with industry, industry must have a meaningful chance to engage.
