As Senior Director, External Affairs, Richard leads AME’s external relations efforts by bringing innovation, pragmatism and strategic counsel to the mineral exploration, mining, energy and carbon solutions sectors. He believes that responsible resource development is essential to solving climate challenges and creating opportunities for all Canadians.
Read MorePrior to joining AME, Richard worked with a consulting firm focusing on supporting Indigenous communities’ planning and assessment processes. This included spending significant time in communities, developing processes and protocols, and balancing the needs of First Nations, governments and companies at all stages of the mining cycle.
Richard has also worked with public geoscience research non-profit Geoscience BC. In these roles, he focused on involving industry, government, communities, academia and Indigenous groups in public geoscience research planning, implementation, dissemination and use. He significantly grew Geoscience BC’s collaborative partner network and was part of a team responsible for securing millions of dollars in research funding from governments and industry.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Studies from the University of Huddersfield (UK) and a Chartered Institute of Public Relations post-graduate diploma from Manchester Metropolitan University. He has completed Institute of Leadership Management and Indigenous Canada certificates.
