Reasons to Attend AME Roundup
How should I convince my boss?
If you’re in the mineral exploration industry in BC, you may have heard of it already. AME Mineral Exploration Roundup is the place where, year after year, mineral explorers and financers go to network, learn, hear the latest on the industry, and be inspired by new technologies and ways of doing things. It really is a conference for everyone, though, not just the geologists (though there’s a lot for the rock nerds too).
Here are just a few reasons why you should convince your boss to attend:
Not a geologist but work in the industry?
AME Mineral Exploration Roundup is a great place to really get to know the mineral exploration industry. There are introductory short courses for students, geological overviews of the different exploration hot spots around the world, a socially responsible program, and tons of opportunities to ask questions and meet the different characters that make up the industry over a drink or food. Think of it as your crash-course into the rock world.
Build your network
It is the nature of this industry that pitching and finding investment opportunities are a constant. Time and again, our members let us know that they look for opportunities to meet new industry professionals and build new relationships. Roundup not only brings together influencers from all stages of the mineral exploration field, including CEOs, business analysts, political leaders and Indigenous community representatives, we provide opportunity-focused networking sessions that span a variety of topics relevant to our industry. Connect to your peers through industry-related shared interests.

Be part of the conversation
AME encourages mineral explorers to foster respectful relationships through early and meaningful engagement with indigenous groups to move forward with successful mineral exploration and development. A mineral project that is understood and supported by indigenous people is a foundational component of successful exploration. There are opportunities during Roundup to facilitate discussion of interests and issues with leaders (indigenous, political and industry) and hear and share their perspectives in an earnest and open manner.
Hear about lessons learned, best practices, challenges and successes relating to building mutually beneficial relationships with industry and indigenous groups during mineral exploration and development. Check out the Gathering Place, the Reconciliation Breakfast, and initiate your own conversations through the various networking events that are going on. The Gathering Place has become the leader in showcasing Indigenous content and promoting meaningful engagement with Indigenous groups.
See the latest technical innovations
Wondering what companies are doing to advance the mineral exploration game in a sustainable and economical way? The Innovation Hub and Stage will be showcasing ideas and practices that continue to make the industry better. New to this year and not to be missed is the Geophysics Session on Wednesday in the Innovation Hub, so be sure to check that out. Want to learn more about the newest and most exciting projects within BC and globally? Don’t miss our various Technical Sessions, the core of Roundup. And don’t forget to attend the Poster Session where our industry’s thinkers share their pioneering research on the ever-changing landscape of mineral deposits.
Roundup offers a highly technical program aimed at geoscientists to keep up-to-date with the best in the industry. Our slate of Short Courses provide delegates with opportunities to go beyond the technical and best practice sessions for practical expertise for daily on-the-job use with relevant and up-to-date knowledge to the industry. Our renowned Technical Sessions feature skilled mineral explorationists highlighting their recent successes based upon the elements of research, innovation, technical expertise and clever project management. This years’ theme session is Seeing the Unseeable looking into how the new ways to see ore systems undercover, at depth or from their cryptic expressions on the surface can improve drilling success. The Precious Metal Session attendees will learn specifically about gold and silver projects. The Base Metals Session will cover a broader range of commodities that could include copper, zinc, lead and nickel.
You’re an investor and you want to learn more about junior mining projects and the industry? You must check out the Core Shack, this is where you will get first-hand indication into new discoveries, leading prospects, advanced projects and operating mines around the world. Most importantly, you will meet with the Geo’s who are always more than happy to tell you about their exploration activities and projects. For similar reasons, the Project Generators Hub and Prospector’s Tent will give you insight into what is happening out in the field. In addition, building your network and seeing the latest technical innovations will help broaden your circle and your knowledge.
