is a recognized leader in sustainability and social, environmental, and governance (ESG) management and performance. She has over 30 years of experience in community engagement, public consultation, Indigenous relations and negotiations, environmental assessment, and water use planning.  Over the last fifteen years, Vesta has worked in the mining sector where she held positions with Teck Exploration and the Galore Creek project. In 2021, she returned to her consulting practice at Liard Consulting to support mining and exploration companies and took on the role of VP Sustainability at NorthWest Copper.

Vesta has a history of building strong relationships and implementing innovative programs using collaborative planning and decision methods that bring together companies, governments, and Indigenous leadership and communities to achieve sustainable benefits. During her time at Teck, she mentored many junior and senior geoscientists in the art and science of ESG and was instrumental in changing management’s perspective on the value and importance of meaningful engagement and economic partnerships with Indigenous communities across Canada and parts of North America. 

Working with Indigenous governments and teams Vesta applies her knowledge of environmental science, cross cultural awareness, and business acumen to develop strategies related to sustainability and economic reconciliation.  Vesta has an MA and BSC in Geography focused on Natural Resources Management and Policy from the University of Victoria and a Diploma in Environmental Science from Lethbridge.
