As Vice President, Policy and Advocacy, Jack is responsible for advancing policy initiatives on behalf of AME members that ensure access to land and fairness for mineral explorers in BC. Jack has led the AME response to the design and implementation of the Mineral Claims Consultation Framework (MCCF), land use planning projects, as well as the increase in funding and attention to mineral exploration permitting. He also led the creation of the AME Indigenous Engagement Toolkit available to all members.
Jack previously worked for Sedgwick Strategies as the Director of Policy, leading files for mineral exploration, mining, and clean energy clients. This included significant work for the AME on the Mineral Tenure Act (MTA) and other key policy and land-based files. Prior to this, Jack led stakeholder and municipal government relations in B.C. for the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP). A contributor to the MacDonald-Laurier Institute Jack has a keen interest in public policy and natural resource development.
He is currently the volunteer President of the board of the BC Schizophrenia Society. He grew up in the foothills of Southern Alberta and has a degree in Political Science from the University of Calgary and an ESG Micro-Credential from BCIT. In the winter, you can find Jack at a curling rink, and in the summer, on other people’s sailboats, racing in English Bay.
