AME partnered with iTOTEM Analytics to complete an economic impact study called ‘Explore Our Economy’.

The report shows the mineral exploration industry is essential to thousands of businesses and people in all corners of the province, helping to ensure a strong and vibrant provincial economy for generations to come.

Town Hall Report

AME undertook a series of seven facilitated member engagement sessions across British Columbia in February 2025 with 117 members in attendance. This report captures the ten most pressing issues facing the sector, reflecting the feedback received at the sessions, and providing recommendations to government aimed at restoring investor confidence, protecting B.C.’s globally competitive exploration sector, and ensuring a balanced, effective implementation of MTA reform and DRIPA.

Toward a Safe Day Every Day Report 2023

The Association for Mineral Exploration (AME), Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC)
and Canadian Diamond Drilling Association (CDDA) are pleased to present the 19th annual Toward a Safe
Day Every Day report with findings from the Canadian Mineral Exploration Environment, Health and Safety Survey. The 2023 survey had 53 contributing organizations, up from 49 in 2022. The number of hours reported was 8.0 million hours in 2023, up from 7.0 million hours in 2022.

“What We Heard Report”

AME is pleased to release its comprehensive “What We Heard” report, summarizing the recent engagement with members, Indigenous groups and stakeholders on the impacts of the Mineral Tenure Act (MTA) modernization process on the mineral exploration and mining industries.

BC Mineral and Coal Exploration Survey 2023

The British Columbia Mineral and Coal Exploration Survey 2023 is a joint initiative between the Government of British Columbia’s Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation (EMLI), the Association for Mineral Exploration (AME) and EY Canada. The report analyzes the survey responses, financial reports and press releases from 175 mineral and coal companies operating in BC, responsible for 244 projects across the province.

BC’s Notice of Work (NoW) Process

The Impacts of Mineral Exploration to BC

AME commissioned a study of the economic impacts of mineral exploration to British Columbia, including communities and Indigenous groups across the province. The results show that a typical exploration project has a small and temporary footprint with broad-ranging benefits to the economy.

Framing the Future of Mineral Exploration in British Columbia

The report, Framing the Future of Mineral Exploration in British Columbia, prepared by environmental consultant firm, Hemmera, paints a troubling picture about a lack of clarity in land access and use rules as well as the overlapping nature of government regulations. It finds land access for mineral exploration has decreased in B.C., reaching a critical threshold threatening the survival of the industry and by extension, the jobs, families and communities that rely on it.
