AME and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) have released their first joint safety training initiative: helicopter slinging training. Both AME and PDAC believe the helicopter slinging training tool to be the first tool of its kind available to a wide audience.

The presentation can be accessed at http://bit.ly/AMEPDAC and goes over the basics of helicopter slinging; this will be a good resource for helicopter crews, geologists and anyone who uses helicopters to transport goods – particularly in the mineral exploration industry. The tool may be viewed on computers, tablets and smartphones, or can be downloaded from the amebc.ca website.

AME and PDAC thank AME Environment, Health & Safety Committee members Maria Gabriel of Anglo American Exploration (Canada) Ltd. and Kim Bilquist of Teck Resources Limited for spearheading this presentation, and Bailey Helicopters Ltd. and Yellowhead Helicopters Ltd. for sponsoring this inaugural tool.

AME and PDAC have also launched their 12th annual Canadian Mineral Exploration Environment, Health & Safety Survey; companies are encouraged to complete it online at explorationsurvey.ca.
