This March, AME was proud to sponsor the Bears’ Lair Dream Camp in Williams Lake. The event was an incredible experience, with 32 youth from neighbouring Nations and Williams Lake participating in four transformative days of entrepreneurship, mentorship, and cultural connection. This camp was more than just a learning experience—it was about building relationships, strengthening community ties, and inspiring Indigenous youth to become future entrepreneurs and leaders.
AME’s Vice President of Policy and Advocacy Jack Middleton was able to attend as a guest judge and had a chance to speak with the participants about AME and the mineral exploration industry. “It was amazing to see the kids learning business skills and getting creative with their business ideas. I was really thankful to be involved and see the end result of all of their hard work,” said Middleton.
Williams Lake Chief Willie Sellars opened the camp with inspiring words and Elder Linda Narcisseopened the camp with a meaningful welcome and cultural grounding thatcreated a strong and supportive space for youth to thrive.
The event was also covered by the Williams Lake Tribune and highlighted the positive impact of this camp on the community.
