This Safety Plan has been developed in accordance with the Provincial Health Officer’s Order of May 14, 2020 and is subject to change.

The Safety Plan has been revised incorporating current guidance and the Workplace Safety order issued December 16, 2020.

This plan reflects BC’s Restart Plan issued May 25, 2021: and will be revised as BC progresses through each step.

COVID-19 Background

COVID-19 is a new form of infectious coronavirus that belongs to the same family as influenza and SARS. It is spread by contact with exhaled bodily fluids onto mucous membranes of another individual, commonly through coughing or sneezing.

To reduce transmission, British Columbia is currently in a state of emergency, with restrictions on movement and workplaces. The provincial state of emergency is updated as required here.

This document has been prepared to outline safe work procedures following the reopening of the office as follows.

Protocols reflect Steps 1 and 2 of BC’s Restart Plan, and the office Safety Plan will be revised as the restart plan progresses.

Note that the timing of the following steps is contingent on the following:

  • Declining COVID-19 case counts
  • Increasing vaccination rate in people 18+ (all persons 12+ are encouraged to be vaccinated)
  • Declining COVID-19 hospitalizations, including critical care
  • Declining COVID-19 mortality rate

STEP 1: Up to June 15, 2021 (continued from November 9, 2020)

Only AME employees, contractors and others essential to the day-to-day operations of AME are in the office.

Corresponding guidance from BC’s Restart Plan:

  • Start a gradual return to workplaces
  • Employers must continue to have a COVID-19 Safety Plan and daily health check in place

STEP 2: June 15, 2021 (tentative)  

Visitors are allowed by appointment.

  • Continued return to the workplace
  • Small, in-person meetings allowed

STEP 3: July 2, 2021 (tentative)        

Members and public are allowed in accordance with occupancy limits

Corresponding guidance from BC’s Restart Plan:

  • Continued return to the workplace
  • Seminars and bigger meetings allowed
  • Workplaces must operate based on a new sector COVID-19 Safety Plan.

STEP 4: September 7, 2021 (tentative)       

AME office is fully reopened.
