Summary
The Indigenous Awareness Training Program is a 6-hour self-paced online course. Registrants can access this informative training session anywhere at anytime. The course is hosted by Christy Smith and features leaders in Indigenous engagement. The program is accompanied by slide presentations and video transcriptions. You will be quizzed after each chapter on lessons learned and upon completion you will receive a certificate of completion.

Course Overview
The purpose of the program is to gain a better understanding of Indigenous history in BC, how that history affects individuals and communities, and what actions non-Indigenous individuals and businesses can take to support reconciliation and equality for all.
This program was developed to meet the intent of Action 92.3 from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action.
92. We call upon the corporate sector in Canada to adopt the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as a reconciliation framework and to apply its principles, norms, and standards to corporate policy and core operational activities involving Indigenous peoples and their lands and resources. This would include, but not be limited to, the following:
iii. Provide education for management and staff on the history of Aboriginal peoples, including the history and legacy of residential schools, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Aboriginal rights, Indigenous law, and Aboriginal–Crown relations. This will require skills-based training in intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights, and anti-racism.
